Zooni was born out of a chance conversation between friends Manish and Simran at a terrace party last Christmas. What began as a festive catch-up turned into a meaningful heart-to-heart. Both were at a crossroads—Simran had just stepped away from a two-decade career in Media & Entertainment, while Manish was reimagining his family’s legacy in diamond trading and jewelry. That winter evening in Bombay, amidst twinkling lights, good wine, and close friends, sparked something enduring.
The conversation stayed with them. A few months later, that spark became Zooni.
Simran: I've been drawn to jewelry for as long as I can remember—even before I could afford it. I've gone through every phase: chunky oxidized silver in college, oversized hoops at my first job, and the thrill of saving for a small gold chain. I’ve hunted down the perfect chandbalis at Janpath, and bought my bridal set that I haven’t worn since. Over time, I fell in love with fine jewelry—gold, diamonds, emeralds. But I struggled to find pieces that were modern, minimal, and versatile—pieces that felt like me, an urban Indian woman.
I started buying jewelry abroad—natural pearl studs in Milan, delicate gold hoops in New York—because I couldn’t find that same understated elegance back home. Manish, my jeweler in Mumbai for over a decade, has always understood that. He made me timeless pieces: emerald cut diamond earrings, a single round diamond bracelet—modern heirlooms I could wear every day.
With Zooni, we want to bring that quiet beauty to other women like me—who prefer their jewelry to whisper, not shout.
